How To Make A 'Slutty' Spaghetti Comfort Meal In 4 Minutes

Spaghetti alla Puttanesca – aka ‘Slut’s Spaghetti’ – is so called because it uses only store cupboard ingredients, nothing fresh, and clearly only a slut (in the household sense!) would do such a thing according to the Italians. Obvs we’re gonna rename it, so instead, meet ‘Super Sexy Puttanesca Spaghetti’!

Feminist principles aside, it’s terribly difficult not to enjoy a steaming bowl of rich, briny pasta full of umami and authentic Southern Italian flavour – especially when it can be made in four minutes flat. We can only imagine how slutty our Latin friends would deem us for making the whole lot in the microwave. So, grab yourself a big glass of red wine and enjoy this Super Sexy Puttanesca Spaghetti recipe with abandon.

Spaghetti alla Puttanesca

spaghetti-1

Ingredients

150-200g fresh spaghetti

½ tube tomato puree

Handful small capers

Handful black olives

4 anchovies, finely chopped

Olive oil

Parsley (optional)

Parmesan (definitely not optional)

100ml boiling water

What to do

  1. Put the spaghetti and boiling water in a microwaveable bowl and swill it around a bit.

  2. Chuck everything else in bar the parsley and parmesan. Even if you think you hate fish – or even anchovies in particular – I urge you to try this with them as they’re not there to add a seafoody flavour, but a properly deep salty one. I promise. Give it all a good mix around and then cover and microwave on full power for four minutes, stirring halfway through.

  3. Leave to stand, then season using lots and lots of black pepper, freshly grated parmesan and some chopped fresh parsley, if using.

  4. Rejoice in your sluttishness.
