It’s the news we have all been waiting for…

Lidl ‘Hangover-Free’ Prosecco

If you’re a fan of fizz and have battled through many a hungover morning, then we have some very good news for you.

Lidl are bringing out an organic prosecco that, apparently, doesn’t give you a hangover. We were sceptical at first, but let's be honest, we are more than ready to be the guinea pigs of this breakthrough.

The hangover-free bubbly will be hitting the German discount chain’s shelves this Thursday (12th October), and it’s only £7.99 a bottle. It seems like the budget supermarket has come to the rescue once again, saving our livers and our wallets.

But these are very bold claims - can we really drink this new prosecco to our heart’s content, without waking up dry-mouthed and nauseous? After all, our hangovers are only getting worse as we get older...

Lidl’s master of wine, Richard Bampfield has explained the science behind it, and the secret of this Organic Prosecco Spumante (with bright aromas of white peach and pear, if you were wondering) is that it contains fewer sulphites than non-organic tipples.

It’s these sulphite preservatives that often cause the symptoms of a shocking wine hangover, so Lidl’s new product might mean that in future, we'll be able to pop open some bubbly without feeling fuzzy-headed at work the morning after. This could be revolutionary.

Looks like we’ll be heading to Lidl and going home with as much of the stuff as we can physically carry in the run-up to this year’s festive season.

With the continuing rise in the popularity of prosecco and customers keen to stock up for the party season, Lidl have timed this perfectly. Although this is very exciting news, we definitely have our reservations. If it works, Lidl’s going up even further in our estimations.

There’s only one way to find out…
