Have you seen Eat Pray Love? You know that seen where she goes to Napoli and eats pizza? You know, where she falls madly in love with pizza? You get my drift. Well my pizza loving friends, that very pizza restaurant is coming to London

L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele is not only the oldest pizza restaurant in the world – they are the best. I am aware pizza is a subjective matter and while Dominoes may be more your thing than Franco Manca (shame on you), trust me when I say you need to go to this restaurant. The family run business first opened in 1870 in Naples, and now they are extending to 124 Church Street, Stoke Newington, set to open on February 3rd. . Praise be the pizza Gods.

Let me just break down how fantastic this place is: when visiting a town about an hour from Naples, I was driven specifically to Naples for this pizza. It took over two hours to drive there and back. We queued, along with about 27 other people, outside in the cold waiting for our number to be called for about 35 minutes. Was it worth the wait? Yes, yes it was. I cannot express how much it was worth the wait.

It’s commonly known in Italy that if you want the best pizza, you go to Naples. Actually, scrap that, you go to this place. The original restaurant only serves margherita and marinara pizzas, for a mere four euros. Four euros people. How much is Dominoes these days? About £45 and it gives you a bloated food baby for days after. Sbrigati L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele.
