Usually in this column we try and make something nutritious, healthy and virtuous in a microwave to save you from a £4 salt-filled, cardboard carbonara. Today we rebel. Today we make CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE.

For your hangover pleasure, when going to the shop for stodge is too much effort, this is a baking-free microwavable pudding. Cue up Netflix and put something comfy on because this bad boy will be ready in 90 seconds time.

Ingredients (serves one):

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp cocoa powder

  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • 2 tbsp self-raising flour

  • Splash of milk

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • A few squares of your fave chocolate – I used 85% cocoa Lindt

Method

  1. Mix the egg, milk and oil together in a microwaveable mug

  2. Add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder and whisk until as smooth as possible

  3. Add broken pieces of your chocolate

  4. Microwave on full power for 60 seconds then remove and stir. Microwave again for a further 30 seconds.

  5. Eat.
