Guys, we have great news. You no longer have to go spending a small fortune on a decent tasting gin. Supermarket Aldi’s Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin has been awarded as one of the best gins in the world.The £9.97 rich and complex gin was awarded with a gold medal at the International Wine and Spirits Challenge – beating, Foxhole London Dry Gin, £39.95 bottle.
The supermarket was also awarded as Supermarket Own Brand Spirits Range of The Year and the worldwide and well-known, International Spirits Challenge. Aldi’s spirits won 20 medals at the contest. But, it was only in May that Aldi’s £5.99 Rosé was also voted as one of the best wines in the world. So they have officially done it again guys.
Tony Baines, Joint Managing Director of Corporate Buying at Aldi said: ‘Receiving medals for our spirits is a fantastic achievement and it is great to see our range being praised so high by experts.’
‘Being awarded a title such as ‘Supermarket Own Brand Spirits Range of the Year’ is something that not only reflects the quality of our products but also the hard work that our UK based buying team put into drinks retailing every single day.’
At the International Spirits Challenge, a spokesperson said: ‘The display of awards achieved by Aldi this year at the International Spirits Challenge was fantastic. They consistently showcased high quality products in the blind tastings, which demonstrates that you don’t have to compromise on price to enjoy great tasting drinks.’
We’re agreeing with the spokesperson! Aldi is very well known for being low-priced, but also, great quality. Did you know, that their whisky also beat posh brands like, Ardmore Traditional Peated (45.55) too? Well, now you do.
Suffice to say, we’ll definitely be buying our liquor from Aldi for our next pre-drinks sesh
