Tomato and mozzarella, salt and vinegar, pancakes and golden syrup: some foods just belong together. This festive season, Aldi is combining two of our absolute favourite ingredients, bringing us CHOCOLATE wine.

Aldi is really helping us get into the Christmas spirit this year, with their WINE advent calendarand their three-litre bottleof prosecco - and now this chocolatey post-Christmas dinner tipple.

The discount store is actually stocking a whole range of dessert wines, including this 500ml bottle of Rubis Chocolate Wine, priced at a modest £9.99. The Spanish fortified wine is made from Tempranillo grapes, and there’s a chocolate essence, with subtle hints of figs and fruits.

They’re calling it the ‘chocolate lover’s dream’.

It’s 15% and has been described by spirits retailer, The Whisky Exchange as ‘very off-the-wall’. We're definitely willing to give it a go.

And this isn’t any old chocolate wine, we'll have you know. It actually scooped up the ‘Silver Outstanding’ award at the International Wine & Spirit Competition.

It really is quite the dark horse.

Well, it’s been a pretty great month for chocolate enthusiasts all round, hasn’t it? We’ve had Nutella pasta, avocado chocolate, and the ground-breaking moment when Iceland’s £1 chocolate bar came head and shoulders above Marks & Spencer and Waitrose in a blind taste test.

If you can't get to Aldi, their chocolate vino is also available on Amazon, and Sainsbury's are also jumping on the bandwagon, selling Chocolate Drop Red Wine with Dark Chocolate.

You're welcome.
