Listen, we all want to start the year as we mean to go on, but sometimes winter can make it hard to find that ‘get-up-and-go’ spirit. Those winter blues can leave us all feeling a little bit down-and-out, which is why it’s so important to take care of our mental and physical wellbeing at this time of the year.

We could all do with making our lives a little bit sweeter this winter, couldn’t we?

And there are plenty of ways to do it! From mindfully meditating to discovering your inner artist or simply indulging in a delicious Fibre One Chocolate Fudge Brownie bar, here are eight simple ways to add some happiness to your day.

1. Start with self-care

Hitting pause and dedicating time for yourself is difficult to do, so take this as your sign to indulge in a little self-care. Whilst this looks different from person to person, setting time aside to focus on yourself is the main goal. Whether that’s soaking in a hot bubble bath, smoothing on a facemask, or painting your nails, these small acts have a massive impact on our wellbeing.

2. Engage in some mindful movement

We know that exercising is good for us but running around in the freezing dark is not the one, despite what the fitness influencers are posting (there’s a mute button on Instagram btw). However, moving for a least 30-minutes per day, like practicing a slow yoga flow, will still boost those feel-good endorphins. Why not pair with a Fibre One Cookies & Cream protein bar to reward yourself without the guilt?

3. Work on your creativity

Drawing, sculpting, painting, knitting - or however you like to explore your creativity - are all great ways to absorb our attention and stop us from endlessly scrolling. To make it a little less paint-by-numbers, try streaming a live life drawing class and complement it with cheese and wine to get those creative juices flowing.

4. Watch your favourite film

Putting the TV on is an easy way to wind down after a long day. Treat yourself to a film night with a squishy duvet and feel-good snacks like the chewy Fibre One Salted Caramel and Almond popcorn bar to give you the cinema experience but better… because you’re in your pjs.

5. Try something new

Find your zen within the wellness space by trying something new. Pick up tarot card reading to encourage a deeper connection with your emotions or discover the energetic differences between crystals. Even learning how to breathe through meditation will help soothe any bad vibes.

6. Host a games night

Virtually or in real life, socialising with loved ones will definitely improve your mood. Add in some friendly competition and a couple of drinks to banish any winter blues.

7. Invest in a SAD lamp

For the days when the above doesn’t work, reach for a SAD lamp. Research shows that by mimicking natural sunlight, the lamp activates your brain’s serotonin (the happy hormone) and even increases your vitamin D levels, physically improving your mental wellbeing.

8. Indulge with Fibre One
