7 Cheap, Easy And Non-Boring Things To Do With Cauliflower

  1. Cauliflower Rice with Basil, Parmesan, and Pine Nuts

Time: 10 minutes

Cauliflower rice is probably the greatest invention since sliced bread. Actually, it's better than sliced bread. It's good for you, doesn't bloat you and totally serves as a pretend filling carb to have with your chickpea curry. To make it, you do kind of need a blender or food processor but, if not, you can use a grater. Just don't grate your fingers into the rice too like I did once. Still served it. Sorry.

This recipe from Kayln's Kitchen is a nice way to make it a little bit more exciting if you're serving it with something sauceless.

2. Cauliflower Pizza

Time: 30 minutes

As in the base. Is made of cauliflower. Mental right? This one is very good if you're gluten intolerent or just a knob (hello) who doesn't eat gluten because the Hemsley sisters (huge babes) don't either. A cauliflower pizza base pretty much follows the same concept as cauliflower rice but, once grated or blended, you mix it with egg, make a dough and roll it out. Then you must bake it and cover it in all the cheese. That's the law. Here's a good recipe from Our Best Bitesto follow.

3. Cauliflower Bagel BLTs

Time: 45 mins

I pretty much stopped eating bagels after someone told me they were like 6 pieces of bread compacted into one donut shaped piece of deliciousness. Which is a shame. Because bagels are the best. Especially bagels with bacon in. Like The Iron You has done here. Hold on a minute though, that's not a real bagel, it's an equally delicious cauliflower bagel. With bacon in. Great shout.

4. Parmesan-Roasted Cauliflower

Time: 45 minutes

Orgasm inducing stuff this one. It's a well known fact that roasting stuff in oil, and the addition of cheese is a sure fire way to make pretty much any food taste A-OK but with cauliflower it works particularly well. Also, it's pretty much the easiest thing to make. You can't bugger it up. Just get some cauliflower, sprinkle stuff over it and bake for a while. This recipe from BonAppetit is a winner.

5. Low Carb Cauliflower Hummus

Time: 20 minutes

God knows you shouldn't be calorie counting - especially when it comes to good carbs, like the ones in chickpeas, but we're a sucker for a dip and this one looks really good. It's pretty much the same recipe as hummus, but instead of chickpeas, it uses cauliflower. Obviously. Check out the recipe from I Breathe I'm Hungry here.

6. Honey Baked Garlic Cauliflower

Time: 30 minutes

This is your way to have sweet and sticky chinese chicken without actually having to eat the stuff with the manky chicken from your local Chinese that always gives you the shits. Serve it with rice and get yourself some damn spring rolls. This recipe from Kirbie's Cravings is good.

7. Roasted Cauliflower and Mushroom Quinoa Salad

Time: 35 minutes

This salad works warm or cold and has a fancy balsamic dressing to go along side it. Basically, it's a good one to make loads of on Sunday and then eat for lunch each day of the week. Use an empty glass bottle with a lid to keep the dressing in so it doesn't go soggy. Check out the recipe from Cooking in the Closet here.

8. Vegan Cauliflower, Potato, and Chickpea Curry

Time: 45 minutes.

Don't be put off by the long old list of ingredients in this recipe from A Beautiful Plate - most of them are just dried herbs that you'll already have in your cupboard anyway. This too is one you can make loads of and eat all week so the cash you spend will work out in the end.
