On Tuesday 16th September, at THE PIG-in the South Downs, there will be a special evening in conversation with the brilliant Elizabeth Day. This will mark the launch of her brand-new novel, One of Us. If you’ve listened to How to Fail or read any of her bestsellers, you’ll already know Elizabeth is a storyteller with warmth, wit, and wisdom - by the bucketload.
Hosted in the characterful PIG way, this will be an intimate event full of honest chats, plenty of laughs, and a peek behind the scenes of Elizabeth’s much-anticipated sequel to her 2017 hit, The Party. Expect thoughts on character-building, the writing process, how to navigate (or totally ignore) writer’s block – and, in Elizabeth’s own words, why this was “the most fun I’ve ever had writing a book”.
THE PIG's own publicist, Emma Cripwell, will be steering the conversation, with space for your questions too. During the night, guests will be able to buy a pre-release copy of One of Us and get it personally signed by Elizabeth herself.
And because no evening at THE PIG is complete without a few indulgences… you’ll be welcomed with a freshly shaken Dirty Vodka Martini (Elizabeth’s go-to!), followed by a three-course PIG feast celebrating the best of the Kitchen Garden and local producers. There'll be perfectly paired wines flowing throughout, including Elizabeth’s favourite: a delicious New World Pinot Noir.
THE PIGs have always believed in the magic of gathering round a table with people who inspire, and this evening promises just that. Good stories, great food, and the best kind of company.
Timings:- The perfectly chilled Dirty Vodka Martinis will be ready for sipping from 6.30pm on the terrace at THE PIG-in the South Downs, with views onto the hotel's vineyard. There'll be plenty of time to buy a copy of One of Us and have it signed by Elizabeth herself. At 7pm the conversation with Elizabeth will officially kick off with guests sitting down and enjoying a glass of fizz and Piggy Bits. Once the chat has wrapped up, the feast will continue. Dinner is a relaxed, sociable supper with sharing tables or tables of two/four.
