Though the classic shelfie still holds undeniable clout on our social media feeds, recently there’s been a definite shift in the way we’re showcasing our interiors online. It’s as if our focus has zoomed outwards a little: stylishly arranged and usually featuring some variant of house plant, well put-together corners keep grabbing our attention. But are they as effortless as they appear on our Instagram feeds?

With this in mind, each week we’ll be asking one influencer to talk us through the most curated spot in their home or workspace. For our latest Story of a Corner, Marisa Hordern, founder and creative director of jewellery brand Missoma (a favourite of Meghan Markle, no less) shows us round her favourite nook at the label's HQ...

The space

This is my little corner of tranquillity, which sits directly opposite my desk at Missoma HQ. To have a little space of calm in eyesight of my desk (which can be quite a hectic place!) is important to me. Whilst gemstones and jewellery are my first love, design and interiors are my second with free time spent hunting down treasures, artworks and furniture in Portobello Market (I love a good auction too) and of course finding beautiful pieces online. I truly feel our office should be a pleasure to be in… I want the team to feel they are coming every day to their home from home, so in fact the rest of the office interior does reflect this aesthetic… but this little corner is mine.

The furniture

Because I spend all my time gathering trinkets and books on my travels, I love good shelving, this shelf from West Elm fits perfectly in the space, whilst adding more character than simple white wall shelving. The chair is in fact made.com. I’m not normally a fan of pink, but this dusky colour with its metallic legs works so well. Swoon is another website I could spend a lot of time on - both the rug and the side table are from there. I’m obsessed with anything that has geometric shapes!

The crystals

I have a number of calming gemstones in this corner. Crystal Quartz, an all-powerful stone is great for balancing and protection, whilst Blue Lace Agate is calming and the stone of acceptance. Lastly.. I love a good house plant (who doesn’t?) This guy is from Patch Plants. But honestly in a place of work when spending so much time in a tech heavy environment, it’s nice to have reminders like these to keep us grounded
