You know when you’re flipping through a magazine and you come to the interiors section at the back and you’re all like, ‘Yeah, I like that bedroom. I should make my bedroom look like that.’ But then you get to the bit where they tell you where to source similar products and they’re all like £4,000? We don’t know about you, but even something costing £200 would wipe us out for the rest of the month which, quite frankly, isn’t something we’re willing to do, no matter how delightful it’ll make our bedroom look.
So we’ve scoured the internet and found some cool bits and bobs that are REALLY CHEAP and will make your room look ace. You're welcome.
These shelves
Part of IKEA’s new PS collection which – in their words is ‘for people and homes in constant motion’ and in our words is designed for people like us that have no money, live in teeny tiny bedrooms and move approximately once every eight months. These shelves do use up that dead space in the corner, though – and they look ace.
This phone
We know you don’t need it. It just looks cool. It also works if you actually have a home phone number and still know what a telephone socket looks like.
This table
Another one from IKEA’s PS range. This guy’ll sit comfortably next to your bed and hide all manner of sins inside. Also, these colours are like the opposite to all the pretty chinzy Cath Kidston stuff most bedrooms consist of, so we’re using it as proof our tastes have reached a new maturity when it comes to interiors.
Picture frames in general
Rip those posters and postcards down guys and put them in a picture frame. It’s the ultimate step in growing up. They don’t even have to be expensive. These ones from Tiger are less money than a glass of wine and, ultimately, a more useful way of improving yourself as a human being.
These drawers
Alright, you can have a LITTLE bit of chintz – as long as it’s Moroccan-themed. This is actually meant to be a spice store, but fuck right off if you think we’re letting our grubby housemates get their greasy ready-meal covered mitts on it. Instead, we have reappropriated it as a jewellery holder.
This cushion
Again, we’re out with the ditsy flowers and in with cool colours and geometric shapes. In our minds, having a ‘cool’ room basically means doing a trolley dash in a Scandi design fair – and this cushion has it all.
This stool/table
Is it a table? Is it a stool? Either way, it’s dead cheap and dead small so it can fit anywhere. Big fans.
These bookends
Erm. Not really for any reason other than we just like them. A lot.
