WATCH
The Babadook
In cinemas Fri Oct 24
It’s the week before Halloween so start to get scared by watching The Babadook, the most-hyped horror film of the year so far, with a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and all-round rave-reviews for Australian Essie Davis as a woman struggling with a son who is having hallucinations based on a children’s storybook. Writer and director Jennifer Kent, has said that for her, the horror really comes from an emotional and visceral place rather than straight up scares. 'I wanted to talk about the need to face the darkness in ourselves and in our lives…' making it a must for fans of psychological horror - think the first Paranormal Activity or Le Orfanato, a 2007 Spanish horror that still has us traumatised seven years later.
