WHEN JADE AND MATTY moved to their new home, they desperately needed a new kitchen. The existing one was cluttered and dated, the dark brown and black scheme sucking the light out of the room, making it gloomy. With three children, their dream was a large open-plan living area that included a kitchen and dining section plus sitting room, where they could all spend time together but which could also become a grown-up space at the end of a busy day.

To help create this flexible family room, the couple enlisted the help of entrepreneur, broadcaster and author Rochelle Humes, and you can see the full transformation in Rochelle Humes: Interior Designer In The Making, a brilliant new DIY show brought to you by Wickes. The starting point of the space was the kitchen: Jade and Matty chose theirs at Wickes, opting for Tiverton, a chic Shaker-inspired design with solid timber frames. Available in six colours, they went for Bone, a soft neutral shade that, combined with a pale worktop, accentuates the light that now fills the space. The couple also chose the ceramic Belfast sink from Wickes. They added colour by painting the island units a smart shade of green while the brushed gold tap adds the warmth and richness of metallic.

The couple are thrilled with their new kitchen. ‘It’s so much brighter than before and I love the fact it’s a modern take on a traditional design,’ says Jade, a school business manager in Newport Pagnell. ‘It really makes the kitchen feel timeless.’

The Tiverton is just one of more than 40 high-end kitchen ranges that Wickes offers – see the full range in the Showroom Kitchen Brochure. Or there’s the Ready to Fit collection with its nine smart designs made for easy assembly, and which can be collected instore or delivered.

Along with a wide choice of designs, Wickes also has everything you need to complete your kitchen (or update an existing one). As well as worktops, sinks and taps, shop for splashbacks, tiles, handles, lighting and flooring, plus branded appliances with special cooking functions and integrated wireless chargers for gadgets.
