IKEA’s new ad-campaign“The Real Life Series”features recreations of famous TV living room sets from Friends, Stranger Things and The Simpsons.

These aren’t official collaborations – hence the legally-cautious names “Room for families”, “Room for mates” and “Room for everyone” – but everyone’s favourite Swedish furniture store is showing how you can get close enough to the aesthetic of these instantly recognisable living rooms using their own wallet-friendly inventory.

It’s startling how similar they appear at first glance; you have to look closely to see the differences. They’ve even recreated the Simpsons’ slightly askew boat painting.

On the IKEA website you can see all three recreations with the lamps, tables, rugs and even the paint used to create them listed underneath.

TV and film sets have always been a great source of interior design inspiration. We’d love to see Ikea recreate other fabulous sets like Blair Waldorf’s Paris-inspired bedroom in Gossip Girl or Holly Golightly’s bijou New York apartment from Breakfast at Tiffany's.
