5 Easy DIYs You Can Do With Stuff You (Probably) Have Lying Around At Home

Investing the time and money into tricky DIYs is normally more stressful than it’s worth. Being the busy, switched on generation that we are, most of us don’t have the time to spend half a day running around Ikea for supplies to create that bedside table we’ve been eyeing up on Pinterest. That doesn’t mean you can’t get creative though, you’ve probably got a whole host of materials you can use in your very own rented flat. Here’s our favourite DIYs from Pinterest you can make with stuff you probably already own.

1. DIY lightbulb planter

lightbulb-1

All you’ll need is some old light bulbs (save any bulbs that go and leave you walking around in the dark), a pair of plyers (ask the hot guys in the flat upstairs if you don’t have any) and some thick string or rope. Oh, and flowers to make it look dead pretty.

2. Crate bookshelf

I don’t know about you but I see crates knocking about EVERYWHERE. If you don’t already have one at home, chances are your local green grocers will have some spare. This one isn’t technically a DIY as all it requires is you turning it on it’s side and shoving some books or magazines in it. Voila, a brand new bookshelf. Fancy.

Chances are you’ve got some old fabric or string lying round in the depths of your flat, right? Of course you do, so why not turn it into a cool wall hanging. Who doesn't want a pompom piece of art hanging on their wall? Answer: no one.

    4. Magazine hanger holders

If you’re not allowed to go mental banging thousands of holes in your walls, or if you’re scared said wall will actually fall apart from putting a picture frame as it’s so thin – why not try this alternative way of hanging your favourite magazines. All you’ll need is some old metal hangers. Have a wardrobe clear out to save some. Clean room, clean mind and all that.

    5. Vase terrarium

Evvvverrryone has an old vase collecting dust, don’t they? Or some kind of mason jar you got two years ago cause they were cool. Turn it into a terrarium and you can be dead Pinterest.
