Andreja's Pejic's going from strength to strength this year. After securing a whopping $63,235 on Kickstarter to fund a documentary about her life and transition to being a woman, she's now bagged a very lucrative contract - say hello to the new face of Make Up For Ever. Andreja revealed that she'll be working with the brand in an interview with Vogue, and while we don't know any details about the campaign or when it will launch, we sure are excited to see Andreja strut her stuff for one of our favourite brands.
It's a powerhouse pairing - Andreja is an industry darling who came out as transgender last year, and walked the SS15 Giles show as a transitioned woman to whoops and cheers, while Make Up For Ever is a backstage staple that was snapped up by the LMVH group thanks to their high-quality, pro-standard products at reasonable prices. Andreja is one of the first publicly transgender models to score a big beauty campaign, alongside Brazilian model Lea T and her Redken campaign.
We hope to see more transgender models scoring these big name deals, as well as modelling becoming ever more friendly to trans men and women, as well as those who don't identify with either gender. Fashion has the power to break down boundaries of ignorance and phobia in all kinds of oppression, so we hope the industry continues to flex its muscles for good.
