With summer fast approaching, our holidays are booked and our suitcases packed several weeks in advance, but there’s just one thing niggling in the back of our minds. And no, it’s not something we should probably be fretting about i.e. passports, boarding passes or ear-popping sweets for the plane. It’s something that takes a lot more thought than we perhaps like to admit. Nail polish.
Before jetting off, there’s a crucial decision to make as regards to our freshly groomed holiday-esque talons. Do we opt for a nude to compliment every outfit choice we’ve meticulously pinned to our ‘holiday outfit’ board? Or perhaps choose a bolder shade to clash with the tans we’ve worked so hard to obtain?
To ease the pain of holiday-induced decision making, we’ve rounded up summer’s hottest shades from sweet pastels to the minimalist devotee’s go-to, white.
Sweet Pastels
Remember when we told you about Mac's latest makeup launch Soft Serve? Sweet pastel hues are here to stay as mint green, baby blue and candyfloss pink are perfect for the transition into summer. Opt for Rimmel's lastest launch of seemingly edible hues with Shallow Bay or try sky blue with NARS's Ikiru shade. Maybe they'll compliment our rainbow lashes and equally bright highlighter well?
White Out
It's the Scandi dream in nail form. White is the alternative to winter's go-to black if you like to keep it minimal. The simple shade makes fresh tans pop and is guaranteed to match any of your holiday garms. We like Floral Street by Nails Inc- it also doubles up as a key tool in creating the classic French mani.
The Right Kind Of Nudes
Nude is a lot more complicated than it sounds. From greige to a slight tinge of pink, there's a whole spectrum of nudes you might not have even thought about. Try Montpelier Walk from Nails Inc for a soft shade with kale extract for added strength or Chanel's Le Vernis in Garconne for the definition of greige. FYI natural shades are at their very best when combined with a stiletto shape nail.
Metallics
We had never been more excited about a product until we heard spray on nail polish was an actual thing.
Now you can nail metallics with ease using our go-to, Nails Inc's Paint Can Spray in Mayfair Market, a bronze hue which will make post-holiday tans postitively glow. Or channel Kylie Jenner and use Nails Inc's Paint Can Spray in Shoreditch Lane for a futuristic feel.
Pink Isn't Going Anywhere
That's right: pink is still the most talked about colour of the season. It's already infiltrated our wardrobes, so why not don the sweet shade on your mani? With Rose Quartz reigning as the Pantone colour of the year, how much more proof do you need that it's a colour here to stay?
