Awards season is well and truly upon us. And with it, as expected, a roster of couture runway-worthy gowns and Pinterest-perfect beauty looks to cut out and keep. But there has been one retro trend that we didn’t think would make an almighty comeback: pink eyeshadow.
Forget Dynasty-style lids though, this season is all about channelling a grown-up take on the look favoured by '80s cover girls.
At the Golden Globes earlier this month everyone from Emma Stone to Elizabeth Olsen were rocking washes of dusty pink to warm terracotta, for a softer and more ethereal vibe. For the perfect evening look see Lily Collins, too. Bold, matte red lips + peachy eyeshadow + zero eye-liner = perfection.
The key to pulling off this ‘red-carpet’ pink like the A-list, is opting for a buildable, pearlescent finish that still has an intense pigment (FYI: We’re big fans of Body Shop’s Colour Crush Eyeshadow in Golden Cinnamon, now only £3.50).
The dreamy, romantic shade is set to have a big moment this spring, too – with make-up artists at Topshop Unique, Paul Smith and Kenzo kicking off the trend last Fashion Month.
Even those allergic to the candyfloss hue can trial the look in the office. Promise!
