We’ve all been there. You reach – bleary eyed and grey of face – for your failsafe tube of concealer, only to realise that your applicator wand just isn’t giving you the goods – despite the fact that you can definitely see just enough product lurking in the packaging. The struggle, as they say, is all too real, and if we had to pick any fault with our treasured (and otherwise faultless) Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, this would be it.
Thankfully, beauty blogger Teresa Tam of Tereeses has come to our rescue with a quick hack that will help you get every last drop out of your Nars concealer. Teresa, we’ll be forever in your debt.
As Teresa learned, the top of the concealer tube has five ridges, the first of which is a ‘stopper,’ preventing excess product from spilling out when you’re using the doe foot applicator. However, once you’ve used up the majority of the product, this stopper stops being your friend. Teresa’s solution? To get rid of it all together…
First of all, you’ll need a kitchen knife, so be careful. The stopper itself is separate to the rest of the tube, so once you’ve wedged the edge of the knife under the its bottom, it will pop out, ‘like a cork wedged in a bottle of wine,’ as Tan puts it. Et voila!
Speaking to Allure, Teresa explains that ‘I discovered [the hack] myself through trial and error. After trying to scrape out all the excess product in the tune when the stopper was still in, there was clearly a lot more product trapped at the bottom.’
Once the stopper has been removed, things might get a little messy, so you’ll need a thin angled concealer brush in order to apply the product. ‘I use the Real Techniques Fine Liner Brush because it’s thin and long enough to reach all areas of the tube to access the remaining product,’ Teresa told Allure.
