When Emily Weiss launched Glossier in 2014 off the back of her successful beauty blog Into The Gloss, nobody was prepared for the global phenomenon that was about to take shape. It developed a cult following, products sold out so often that to actually buy one was akin to finding the Holy Grail (almost) and the brand finally arrived on UK shores in 2017, to much fanfare. Capitalising on a truly engaged fan base, affordable prices, millennial-friendly packaging and rave reviews, Glossier has truly transformed the beauty landscape, leading the way for the advent of many other digital brands.

The latest news from the brand comes via its partnership with Black Girl Fest Studios. As part of Glossier's 'ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the beauty industry and beyond,' it has announced five grantees for the 2024 UK Black Beauty Grant programme. This need to spotlight black beauty founders is a necessary one - a recent study revealed that Black founders received just 0.24% of venture funding, while female founders received only 11% over the past decade. It's eye-watering stuff.

The five outstanding Black-women-led beauty businesses for the 2024 program are:

Karen Olla - Oré Mi

Phoebe Ellis - Caribe Skin

Dannielle Igor - Igor Hair

Damilola Akinnaike - Ami London

Natel Allen - Telle Moi

Each will benefit from a '12-week tailored learning program supporting them personally and professionally along with receiving a £10K equity-free grant, industry connections, brand exposure, mentoring, and more.' It's another step forward for inclusivity in the industry.

And there's yet more good news for Glossier fans: The Original Glossier Balm Dotcom is back! Glossier is a brand that truly give the people what they want. And for that, we applaud them. When the formula of the iconic Balm Dotcom lip balm was updated in early 2023 (with the aim of making it vegan) the Glossier community made it clear that they weren’t impressed. The product had become well-loved for its always nourishing and never sticky finish thanks to the infusion of lanolin, a fatty substance found naturally on sheep’s wool. Without that lanolin? Well, it simply wasn’t Balm Dotcom anymore - as far as the Glossier aficionados were concerned.

But much to the delight of the OG fans, Glossier have listened and reintroduced the original version in an impressive 9 flavours – including sugary-sweet Birthday Cake and fresh and zesty Mango. Moisturising, cruelty-free and nourishing, just a slick of the Bam Dotcom coats lips in a juicy, nourishing sheen – there’s castor seed oil, beeswax and a blend of antioxidants to thank for that. And fans needn’t wait any longer either, as it's just launched.

Even if you haven't tried Glossier's other products yet, chances are you know their names. From Boy Brow to Cloud Paint and every Milky Jelly Cleanser in-between, it seems everyone has their own Glossier obsession. Gradually, more products have launched, expanding the Glossier brand to include a wealth of skincare, make-up, and even Glossier You, the brand's fragrance (housed in a millennial pink bottle, of course).

Don't forget - if you're looking for the same dreamy results without spending too much, check out the best Glossier dupes to see what products are giving the original beauty icons a run for it's money.

Glossier Balm DotcomGlossier

If you only buy one product, make it this. The crème de la crème of balms, this hydrating skin salve does almost everything. Slick over eyelids or on lips for a dewy, natural look and apply to any patches of dry skin for instant hydration. Glossier's Balm Dotcom is a wonder, and available in nine different flavours.

Glossier Cloud PaintGlossier

Available in six different shades, once you try Cloud Paint you may find it difficult to go back to any other blusher. It's a silky gel-cream formula that's easy to dab onto your cheeks, although you can also use it on lips or even eyes if you so wish. This tends to be one of the more hyped products from Glossier but let me tell you – the hype is fully justified.

Glossier Super Bounce SerumGlossier

If you have dry skin by nature, or if you feel like your skin is just in desperate need of a moisture injection, the Super Bounce Serum is for you. It's a hyaluronic acid combined with vitamin b5 making it a lightweight, non-sticky serum that leaves skin feeling softer almost immediately. Ideal during or after flights and a genuine dream to slather on skin on mornings after the nights before. It also provides the perfect base for make-up.

Glossier Boy BrowGlossier

For anyone spending lots of time using multiple products on their eyebrows, this may just change your life (or at least your morning routine). Boy Brow fills in sparse spaces, thickens thin brows and holds them in place like a gel would. It is, in essence, the ultimate multi-tasker.

Glossier Futuredew Glossier

The ultimate skincare hybrid where serum meets oil to instantly nourish and hydrate yet leaving the skin with a dreamy, champagne glow - Futuredew is perfect for wearing alone or under make-up.

Glossier Priming MoisturiserGlossier

An answer to skin fatigue, Glossier launched it's Priming Moisturiser designed to moisturise, control shine and refine the look of pores in one easy step.

Glossier Milky Jelly CleanserGlossier

One of Glossier's skincare icons suitable for all skin types is the Milky Jelly Cleanser. This must-have conditioning face cleanser removes every stitch of make-up and any unwanted impurities yet leaves the skin feeling super hydrated and looking plump.

Glossier You Eau De ParfumGlossier

Glossier's first Eau De Parfum, You, really does smell differently on everyone's skin. But if you're a fan of musky, lightly woody fragrances, you'll like this. A lot. The base notes (those woody scents) are the main attraction but the top notes that do feature are spicy and peppery, as opposed to anything floral.

A gorgeous light-to-medium coverage foundation, this delivers a natural-looking, silky second skin finish. The gel-crème formula hydrates while blurring and controlling shine simultaneously. It's not hard to see why this is such a viral hit.

Glossier preface this new offering by saying it's a 'sunscreen for people who hate wearing sunscreen,' and that's not a lie. Transparent and lightweight, the broad-spectrum chemical SPF feels almost undetectable but is hardworking and defends against harmful UVA/UVB rays, all without the residue. It's also a great primer for make-up.

Everything You Need To Know About Glossier's Universal Pro-Retinol Nightly Renewing Complex

Meet the Glossier Pro-Retinol Nightly Renewing Complex. The 35ml bottle packed with nightly retinol, formulated with a mix of pure retinol (0.5%) and sunflower seed fatty acids. Why sunflower seed fatty acids? They help to counterbalance the less desirable effects of retinol that many experience during use. We're talking dryness, itchiness and sometimes peeling. There are some pretty impressive statistics associated with this new buy too. According to Glossier's own research, 100% of testers said their skin looks and feels renewed, smoother, softer, more radiant, and visibly transformed after just four weeks of using it.

Already ahead of the game and got one waiting for you at home? Use it at night only, as the label duly suggests. Smooth a pea-sized amount onto cleansed skin, allowing it to fully absorb before you use your moisturiser. Use twice a week or every other night at first if you're new to retinol as a whole and if you're worried about sensitivity start out by sandwiching it between two layers of moisturiser - ie. apply your moisturiser first, then the Glosser Pro-Retinol Nightly Renewing Complex and finally another layer of moisturiser.

Glossier Pro-Retinol Nightly Renewing Complex, £30Glossier

Product Summary: Meet Glossier's new skincare launch, a nightly retinoid formulated with 0.5% pro-retinol in the form of Retinyl Sunflowerate. That's a mix of pure retinol and sunflower seed fatty acids to you and me.

Product Specifications: The nourishing properties of the sunflower seed fatty acids work to counterbalance the less desirable effects often associated with using retinol products, we're talking dryness, itching and occasionally peeling.

Pros/Cons: What's not to love about a Glossier launch? At £35 this is a retinol product worth looking into - retinol buys are usually quite pricey and we rate £35 for a 35ml bottle of this one as reasonable.

Let's Talk About Glossier Boy Brow

Five years (and 4 million sales of Boy Brow) later, Glossier launched its iconic brow-boosting tinted pomade in a warm, coppery shade to cater to redheads. The product, which once garnered a 10,000-strong waitlist, is Glossier’s number one best-seller and is famed for its ability to instantly fluff up and groom brows.

Exploding into the mainstream back in 2015, Boy Brow was originally launched in Black, Brown and Blonde. Then in 2017, Clear was added to the line-up as a universal translucent wax to shape and fix brows. While this was previously the only Glossier option for redheads, Boy Brow in Auburn arrived at last in 2020. Now, with a full collection of shades available to shop - the buzz around Boy Brow is sure to continue.
