Beauty Bloggers Are Using Stationery To Up Their Contour Game

Admit it - we've all done some pretty odd things in the name of achieving the perfect contour. From painting our faces in colour-correcting rainbow stripes, to co-opting household items like spoons and sellotape in our quest for supermodel bone structure, nothing sends certain corners of the Internet into meltdown like a viral beauty hack.

Now, blogger extraordinaire Huda Kattan of Huda Beauty has debuted a totally novel way to sculpt killer cheekbones - using your old school stationery supplies.

A 30 cm ruler may not fit into the average make-up bag, but according to Huda it's the unlikely secret to a symmetrical, convincing contour. With more than 13 million Instagram followers to her name, who are we to argue?

As Huda explains, 'I started doing this a while back because I noticed the asymmetry in my face from sleeping on one side of my face for years.' While she doesn't reach for the ruler on a daily basis (because really, who has the time?), she uses this unexpected hack for photo shoots.

The tutorial video shows Huda using her ruler to measure the perfect width and length of the contour along her cheekbones, before using it to add further definition to her forehead and around her jawline.

Huda's technique is gaining some serious traction on Instagram, with other beauty bloggers posting their own clips inspired by her stationery hack. Anna from @hairmakeupbyanna managed to take things a step further by rummaging in her pencil case for a protractor, using the rounded side of the semi-circle to better contour her forehead.
