When it comes to our hair crushes, there’s no denying that Suki Waterhouse is totally up there. After all- what’s not to love about those shaggy, tousled strands and her retro blonde hue which just oozes that laid-back, boho 60s vibe. You’ve also gotta give it to Suki for her incredible fringe- jagged and textured without ever looking too heavy, this could just be our ultimate fringe-spiration. Scrap Bradley- we want your hair, Suki! So, we were pretty excited when we heard that hairdresser supreme Karine Jackson has just coined Suki’s fringe as the official style of the season. All hail the Dentelé!

Meaning literally ‘jagged’ or ‘serrated’, this super-chic fringe made its debut on the Yves Saint Laurent catwalk last month at Paris Fashion Week, giving this hairstyle some serious fash-worthy credentials. As Former London Hairdresser of the Year Karine Jackson explained, “The Dentelé is the fringe of the season - the fringe within a fringe. It’s effectively two fringes incorporating a shorter, choppy fringe with longer pieces spliced in between to give the hair volume, body, texture and shape.”

Jackson continued, “You can really personalise this fringe as it works at any length from an above the eyebrow cut to an eyelash-skimming version. We take a thin piece which is short, the next is longer (any length - eyebrows, below or above), then the next little section is as short as the first one, the next is long like the second one and so on.”

So is the dentelé right for you? You bet. As Karine told us, because of the varied lengths of the style, it’s perfect for those who want a little more movement in their hair without making any drastic changes. What’s more, it will work with virtually every face shape as your hairdresser can adapt the length of the layers to create a bespoke look just for you.

What do you think of this season’s hottest fringe? Are you ready to rock the dentelé?
