Elle Fanning may have only just turned 18, but the Hollywood newcomer is fast becoming fashion’s new darling.
Since her starring role in the new stylish and seductive thriller The Neon Demon (playing an aspiring model in LA), the US actress has been experimenting with some risqué sartorial choices. We’re completely obsessed with that pink sequinned D&G gown she wore on the red carpet to her film premiere in LA in June.
And FYI: Pink eyeshadow + glitter tears = the coolest new makeup vibe.
And she’s taken her favourite hue of late one step further, after the former blonde revealed a soft pink hair dye job on Instagram.
The dramatic hair transformation was created by Elle’s go-to celebrity hair stylist, Jenda, who opted for a softer, dustier tone of rose pink. Jender herself posted a selfie of the teen star after her hair makeover, labelling her a ‘pink panther’.
Jenda reveals exclusively to Grazia Daily how she achieved Elle’s bright new ‘do…
Can anyone get away with dusty pink locks? ‘This color works on most skin tones, because of the warmth of the gold balanced with the soft pink,’ she tells us. ‘Elle has rosy tones in her fair skin so this looks amazing on her!’
What did you use on Elle’s tresses? ‘For Elle I used a blend of Pravana Pretty in Pink and Pravana vivids pink. These can wash out pretty quickly (in just a few shampoos sometimes) - which is very important to me as her colourist. I need to be able to have it come completely out of her blonde locks with zero damage - and Pravana is great for that.’
Do you recommended using on bleached or light blonde hair? ‘This can work on any pre-lightened hair. If you have gold in your blonde and you put a pink gloss over it - you'll get a beautiful rose gold. If your hair is a bright bleached blonde you'll get more of a powdery pastel pink.’
And it appears the blush-toned tresses trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon – after a roster of celebrities from Bella Hadid to Lily Collins have been rocking candy coloured 'dos this summer.
If you have light blonde or bleached hair yourself, it’s very easy to replicate Elle Fanning’s bold new look for less – with a plethora of trendy semi-perm dyes on the market right now.
You can try Bleach Super Cool Colour in Rose [£5] for a vibrant change that washes out in 2-10 washes or Maria Nila’s Pink Pop Colour Refresh [£29] for a much more subtle colour.
