Britney Spears…Dawson’s Creek…Bring It On. Yep, the ‘00s were pretty amazing.
Although rewind to the early 2000’s and you may find yourself smudging over some pretty awful makeup moments. Remember, this was a decade that saw many of us buy fake tan in bulk and tell our hairdressers that only the chunkiest of highlights would do. Two things we’re not quite ready to revisit again (although maybe give it a few more years!).
But it seems the noughties is staging something of a beauty comeback – from glitter everywhere to hairstyles you thought you’d waved goodbye to forever.
Here’s the throwback beauty trends the A-list can’t seem to get enough of…
1. The Lob
Type ‘2006 hair trend’ into Google and a slew of longer, shoulder-grazing bobs will pop up on your screen – from Gwyneth Paltrow to Rihanna. But the celebrity who is definitely most famous for this look has to be Victoria Beckham. And now, in a major change for the 42-year old fashion designer (she’s kept her hair long for years now) she’s gone back to the Lob again – 10 years later.
2. Pink Eyeshadow
Our new summer shade, thanks to K-Stew’s smokey pink-red hue she wore at Cannes Film Festival this year.
3. Crimping
Excluding our trusty GHD straighteners, our ‘00s hair tech of choice was obvs the crimper. It seems that Suki Waterhouse wants to bring the hairstyle back for good, after showing off her new brown ‘do.
4. Glitter Bomb
From silver glitter on your eyes to hair confetti – this festival season it’s time to shine.
5. Matte Brown Lipstick
From red wine brown a la Gigi Hadid to terracotta tones.
6. Scarves worn as headbands
As every true ‘00s girl will know, headbands were BIG news. Channel your inner J.Lo this season - like Girls actress Zosia Mamet, with a bold Gigi Burris headpiece at the 2016 CFDA awards.
7. The Brady Bunch
Don’t forget the power of a good braid. Fans include Naomi Campbell to Gigi Hadid.
8. Clear Nail Polish

9. Malibu Barbie Hair
Pass the bleach (and LOTS of hair masque).
10. The Smokey Eye
This go-to eye look - with nude lips, obvs - dominated the red carpet in the mid-2000’s. A fail-safe makeup option.
11. Micro Bangs
Hard one to pull off – but Joan Smalls completely nails it.
12. The Top Knot
See Karlie Kloss and Lily-Rose Depp for chic top knot inspo. Simple to create and works better on hair that hasn’t been freshly washed. Win, win.
13. Floral Hair Clips
Ah, Rihanna thanks for reminding us of these beauties. A cooler version of butterfly clips.
