Molly Goddard
Probably a name you’re already familiar with, Molly Goddard cemented her title as fashion’s brightest new star when she scooped the British Emerging Talent gong at the Fashion Awards earlier this month. The Central Saint Martins grad has won over the fashion industry with her DIY aesthetic and fluro-tulle party dresses, and we can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
Rejina Pyo
A quick flick through street style imagery from the September shows and the work of Rejina Pyo is likely to pop up. Her elegant tailoring, graphic prints and striking shapes have already been spotted on street style heavyweights Kate Foley, Yasmin Sewell and Martha Ward. And it’s hardly surprising when you consider her impressive CV. The Korean-born, London-based designer is a graduate of Central Saint Martin’s prestigious MA program and assisted Roksanda Ilincic prior to starting her eponymous label.
A V Robertson
The embroidery trend is going nowhere fast and when looking for designers to hold accountable, the name Amie Victoria Robertson comes to mind. The Mancunian designer is making waves with what she dubbs ‘casual couture’ - a fusion of relaxed streetwear inspired shapes and luxe detailing such as iridescent embroidery. Another member of Central Saint Martin’s alumni, Robertson learnt the ropes while assisting Marc Jacobs before being snapped up by mentorship program, Fashion East. Her first collection, for AW16, was styled by Katie Grand and starred a gang of familiar model faces including Edie Campbell and Georgia May Campbell.
Attico
Started earlier this year by Italian fashion consultants and street style circuit regulars, Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio, Attico’s take on boudoir chic is taking the fashion world by storm. Attico, which means penthouse in English, specialise in classic robes and slip dresses often created in opulent fabrics such as silk and velvet. Much more than a lavish loungewear option, their pieces are the cool-girl’s answer to eveningwear or and look equally stylish dressed down with denim a la the street style set.
Jacquemus
While Vetements may have been the French brand on everyone’s lips in 2016, innovative Parisian based Jacquemus is not far behind. Simon Porte can already count Solange Knowles and Rihanna as fans, and we predict you’ll be seeing a lot more of his fresh tailoring, exaggerated proportions and architectural silhouettes in 2017.
Alice Archer
Part of the crop of talented young Brit designers, Archer’s speciality is her beautiful ornate embroidery. Quite the embroidery expert, she studied the craft at Goldsmiths and Central St Martin's, worked as an embroidery designer for Dries van Noten, and even produced her hand-embroidered art works for Tracey Emin. With her pieces already snapped by Susie Bubble, Suzy Menkes and Pandora Sykes and her collection already stocked in Browns and Barneys, amongst others, she is set to go onto big things.
Mira Mikati
With her playful emoji inspired pieces, Mira Mikati is being touted as the Anya Hindmarch for the Instagram generation. The London based Lebanese designer regularly collaborates with artists and illustrators to create colorful, pop-art style wares that are guaranteed to brighten your day.
