Tommy Hilfiger sure knows how to entertain - and has done so on many fashion week occasions without fail. This 30th anniversary show was no exception. If anything the proceedings were even bigger and better.
In an old armoury redesigned to replicate the gigantic interior of an American football stadium, no minute detail was left unconsidered: from the AstroTurf floor complete with TH insignia through to the giant screens fed with live shots of the runway and the front row (which by the way was chock full of biggies - Rita Ora and her back-on beau and son of Tommy, Ricky Hilfiger being the most starry of all) through to the blue and red team helmets lining the catwalk's backdrop and a seriously pumping soundtrack of Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Missy Elliott and Amerie... This was a production to rival the biggest - and the clothes succesfully matched up to it. It was perhaps Instagram's busiest moment since 2015 started.
A stonking 50 looks hit the touchdown. It was Ali McGraw in Lovestory meets a modern day cheerleader - the kind of studious girl who is not as square as you would first imagine. She looks just as good in a belted, boiled wool camel coat with a big collar and natty tweeds on her way to class as she is in her boyfriend's game kit on a lazy Sunday or her cheerleading dress for a cheeky night out - minus the pom poms. It was the 1970s line up that felt most likely to fly into wardrobes across the US of A and beyond, but there's no denying that Jourdan Dunn and Gigi Hadid looked extra sassy in leather takes on number-emblazoned kit shirts.
Mr Hilfiger ran out onto the pitch to take his bow - speeding around in a sharp suit and sneakers. This man has boundless energy and it was keenly felt by everyone watching today.
The catwalk images will be added shortly...
