The Duchess of Cambridge may have been a no-show at the Winter Whites Gala last night - but there was one lady who made up for it: Taylor Swift. The songstress did her best princess impression for the swanky shindig at Kensington Palace, which was held in aid of Centrepoint, thanks to a ravishing sweeping gown.

The Disney-worthy dress comes courtesy of Reem Acra's Spring Summer 2014 collection and features a twinkling bodice and flowy chiffon skirt that bears more than a passing resemblance to Kate Middleton's finest red carpet frocks. Talk about a royal homage! The starlet topped it off with Swarovski crystal heels, a sumptuous red lip and retro pin-curled up-do. She also paid tribute to Kate's Brit-loyal style by sporting a touch of Jenny Packham in the shape of the Mini Casa box clutch. Of course, Jenny Packham is the designer the Duchess most frequently turns to for a touch of evening glamour.

So although Swifty must've been gutted not to meet K-Middy (and we're gutted not to have a pic of them sharing glossy hair secrets), she did enjoy a royal evening with Colin and Livia Firth and Eliza Doolitte. She serenaded the 600-strong crowd with a performance including renditions of I Knew You Were Trouble and Fifteen. 'I'm Taylor,' she said, addressing the audience. 'It is very nice to meet you, especially under these circumstances. It is my first time playing at Kensington Palace, or any other palace for that matter.' Oh, and then she had a singing session with Prince William and Jon Bon Jovi. No biggie.

'I'm absolutely excited,' the singer said of performing at the gala. 'I don't think I've ever played at a palace before so it is really wonderful. It's really wondrous, I think they've done an amazing job of putting this together.' Could this be the beginnings of a new super-group? Here's hoping.
