We don't know about you but once the sun makes an appearance (even if it is for a mere hour or two), we have an overwhelming desire to hit the shops. But before making the weekly pilgrimage to your favourite Zara store, make sure to take note of what's trending in the fash charts this week.

Thankfully, fashion go-to, Lyst, has been keeping track of the most popular items of 2017 so far. Simply add to your wish list and head to the shops.

The Tropical Shirt

Yep, this season we're channelling Leonardo DiCaprio circa 1996. Come on, you must remember when he starred as Romeo in the romantic adapation? Well, all we fixated on throughout the film was his penchant for cuban collared shirts. And now, it's high time we borrowed from the boys.

According to Lyst, there have been over 180,000 searches for Hawaiian shirts in the past month alone. The favourite? A number by Gap. Who needs Gucci...

The Summer Dress

The staple garment is receiving more attention than usual this year. More than 14,000 people are searching for the perfect summer dress in the last 48 hours. Search for the garment on a whole has risen by 167 percent. Never has there been a greater excuser to book a holiday.

The '90s Sandal

Slides have made a comeback this season but this time, they're even bigger news. Yep, the shoe has taken inspo from the nineties and now features a platform. And they feature everything from pom poms to gingham bows. Back in March, over 33,000 people searched for platform slides so make sure to bag a pair, asap.

The Denim Skirt

Denim is the most talked about trend this season so no wonder the denim skirt is begging for a place in our summer wardrobe. Think like Bella Hadid and don the Canadian tux with metallic boots.

But hurry, as search for the garment has increased by 46 percent since last season and 24,000 people were looking for a denim skirt as early as February. Talk about being prepped for the season ahead...

The Backless Dress

You've got Kendall Jenner to thank. Over 35,000 people searched for the backless dress just last week. We'll be taking inspo from Paris Hilton circa 2002.

The '90s Swimsuit

As Baywatch returns to our screens, so does the high-cut one-piece. This season, forget the bikini and instead invest in the hip-skimming swimsuit.

According to Lyst, one customer has searched for a high-cut swimsuit every five minutes on the website this year. Search has increased by 232 percent in total since last year.

Split-Seam Jeans

Pens at the ready, this is set to be the most talked about trend of 2017. You heard it here first. Forget the frayed hem for one moment and make room for the split-seam. Despite it only just making it to the fash charts, the jeans have already become the second most searched for style behind skinny. Pretty impressive, huh?

The Oversized Denim Jacket

It seems the nineties has had a major influence on our wardrobes this season. Just last week for instance, more than 16,000 people searched for the oversized denim jacket.
