Fashion Month was a whirlwind of style with hundreds 0f shows and even more faces on the FROW. Now it's over and we've had time to recup, we've decided on the pieces we want to get our hands on next season, but what about right now?

To help you nail Autumn style like a street style icon, we've broken down the trends that defined this season and who wore them best.

From the wearable to the wacky, here's the takeaway street style trends from New York, London and Milan and Paris...

1. The backwards shirt

Back to front is the new way to wear your classic boyfriend shirt.

2. Huggy-Bear shoes

While Gucci's fur-lined slip-ons sold out in a flash, they're worth the wait list, or failing that a pair of fluffy slip-ons are the one to keep your tootsies warm through the cold snap.

3. 70s stripes

The way to wear all of the season's signature colours in one fell swoop.

4. These 'It' Dresses

Vetements back-to-front dress and J.W Anderson's assymetric midi shaped up to be this season's most-sought after. The Vetements dress is sold out, but like those loafers - it's worth the wait list.

5. Something ribbed

Slip into a cosy ribbed knit for easy, 70s chic.

6. Silver skirts

Banish those cold weather blues with a hit of silver. A boxy leather version will keep you cosy, too.

7. Pom poms

Inject some fun into your arm-candy with a fluffy pom pom. Pin-on patches were another way the fashion set favoured to add some personality this season.

8. Wrap skirts

The new way to show some skin is with a peek-a-boo slit, though a wrap skirt work just as well over a pair of matching slim-fit trousers, a la Margaret Zhang.

9. Frayed denim

Jeans, skirts, tops - any denim goes as long as it's got a raw-edge finish.
