Today at Temperley London Sophie Dahl returned to the catwalk for the first time in over ten years. The model led the finale in a bronze trousers and an oversized black coat, and was cheered on by her husband Jamie Cullen who sat on the front row.

Backstage Alice Temperley said of casting Sophie in her show: "She's a friend and I wondered why on earth she wasn't on that catwalk. She's so unbelievably beautiful. It's been about ten years." Did it take much persuasion? "I just said you're looking so amazing please will you walk in my show? Don't say no, think about it, and she did it."

She added: "She's brilliant and I love Sophie and I did her wedding dress and I think it's nice the friendship is there and I wanted to celebrate real people and friends and people that wear your clothes, it shouldn't just be very, very young girls. Just character

Sophie Dahl first walked at London Fashion Week at Lainey Keogh in Autumn 1997 and last walked at Matthew Williamson in February 2004.

Alice also cast Caroline Winberg and Jacquetta Wheeler in her show, who are both pregnant. Alice said backstage of having two bumps in her show: "They are beautiful and friends, so why not show them when they're pregnant? We all get pregnant. The brilliant thing about that evening dress is it looks so good on a bump, and I love being pregnant so I just thought it'd be nice to have them in the show and show them off."

As for the clothes, she'd moved away from frothy dresses, with more trousers in eveningwear and lots of layering. Alice said of the look for AW15: "In reality can't wear floaty dresses all the time - I like the trouser suit and I like feeling tailored when I'm at work. We were known for doing dresses, but now we do lots of leather, knitwear and suiting."

Alice added: "I hate things being too pretty believe it or not. If it's a pretty dress I don't like the hair to be really done and too much make up, there needs to be a contrast between masculine and feminine. I love beautiful dresses, but I like the look to be relaxed, worn with the right attitude."
