Just when we thought Hedi Slimane’s bad girls had reached full ferocity, the designer provided an anarchic Saint Laurent collection suitable for today’s wildest punk spirits: from the pointy, zip-fronted ankle boots that could take someone’s eye out to skin tight and slashed leathers that should come with instructions, Saint Laurent’s girl gang were of course only kitted out in the most haute take on subversive style. Here’s what we liked most…
1. Savage Tutus
Think Carrie Bradshaw meets Courtney Love – these were pretty tutus but not as you know them. Hemlines were ragged and cut extra short. Girls with great pins will be all over these.
2. One very cool FROW
The Saint Laurent front row reads like a Who’s Who of 2015’s hippest. There were leading designers (Alber Elbaz, Azzedine Alaia), Hollywood stars (Jessica Chastain, Salma Hayak) and musicians a plenty (Mark Ronson, Jake Bugg and more).
3. Siouxsie Sioux Eyeliner
In a season that has been very light of hand in the makeup dept, it was good to see something bold to experiement with. Here thick slice of curving black eyeliner also required pale skin and blood-red lipstick.
4. Animal Prints
As proven by the front row, who were mostly clad in Saint Laurent’s leopard spots, this is a house signature with unyielding fashion power.
5. Patchworked Party Dresses
Sprouting tulle, patched in leathers and bound by zips, Hedi’s sliced and diced bandeau frocks were not for the faint of after-dark heart. They will no doubt find their way onto the bods of rock’n’roll girls like Kate Moss
