Ribbing is big news this season. London-based Italian designer Alessandra Rich slipped striped, cropped and ribbed sweaters under her svelte cut-out jumpsuits for autumn/winter 2015. And among the louche dressing gown coats and silk pussybow blouses of Hillier Bartley’s first collection, which launched exclusively on Matchesfashion.com, there was something for the understated girl in us all – a ribbed jumper in khaki with velvet epaulettes and elbow patches.
Luckily for those of us who can’t afford the £995 price tag, the high street gives good game in the ribbed knitwear department. Topshop, Monki and M&S have run with the co-ord idea, giving us head-to-toe ribbing and slightly flared trouser shapes for extremely comfortable wearing. Finery has a ribbed tunic that’ll look ace under A-line dresses and over wide-leg trousers alike, while Whistles has the Scandi-chicest ribbed dress in its arsenal. Head to H&M and ASOS for your fill of ribbed, lurex roll necks, another big trend for autumn, and team with button-down skirts – yes the 70s lives on this season.
