On the Royal Tour in Australia and New Zealand Kate Middleton sold out clothes, wore breton and had daily blow dries, nothing new there. But it was gorgeous George who was the real hit Down Under. From the moment we saw him wriggle his way onto the plane at Sydney airport, we couldn't get enough of this little munchkin.

The tour is all done and dusted, but we're still obsessed with looking at pictures of little Georgey. It seems the Duchess of Cambridge loves the George snaps too, as she has revealed that her favourite picture from the three-week tour is, suprise surprise, of the little Prince. Kate has revealed that her favourite picture is of a dungaree-clad Georgey nestled into her shoulder, taken by Simon Woolf at the play date at Government House in Wellington.

The photographer revealed: 'She said it was just lovely and that it was her favourite photo of the tour.' Simon then gave the royal couple a black and white copy of the image as a leaving gift to hang in Kensington Palace.

Eight-month-old Prince George had his first official engagement on the tour. He visited a play date organised by The Royal New Zealand Plunket Society at Government House in Wellington, attended by ten other babies of a similar age. He showed off his crawling skills and adorable little pout. He might only have five teeth but he already knows how to work a room, as the dungaree-clad George was ruling the play group. Grant Collinge, 38, told the Telegraph: "He honed in on certain toys and took the ones that he wanted. No-one was going to stand in his way!”

At the playdate George stroked Kate's hair (well, woudn't you), kicked his legs with some serious force and crawled across the carpet. One of the mothers in attendance at the royal playdate said to The Mirror: “Different children develop differently, but George is very advanced for his age. He was crawling and wanting to walk in an advanced way — more so than my son, who is younger than him.”

At a State Reception dinner Prince William joked about Prince George's lung capacity. He said: 'Thank you also for hosting Catherine, George and me during our time in New Zealand. I hope that George doesn’t keep you up! He's at his most vocal at 3am, as you may have noticed - I swear I heard him doing the haka this morning. He's a bonny lad and you'll be pleased to know that he's currently preparing for life as a prop forward!'
