It’s that time of year again: the bi-annual, four-week affair fondly referred to as Fashion Month has kicked off in earnest for autumn/winter 2018, beginning with seven days of shows – and, of course, street style opportunities – in New York before the industry moves on to London, Milan and finally Paris.
As anyone who’s ever visited Manhattan in the winter (or, you know, caught one of the seasonal episodes of Friends) will attest, temperatures in New York in February can prove anything but hospitable. Throw in a high chance of snow and you have a sartorial conundrum: how can you dress for seriously cold weather without resorting to wearing everything you own (or, more likely, everything that’ll fit into an airline-friendly suitcase) at once?
For lessons in how to stay stylish in low, low temperatures, we’ve looked to New York’s street style set, who’ve fine-tuned the art of turning your outerwear into a fashion statement, whether that’s through statement coats in deceptively cosy fabrics, unexpected layering or clever accessorising.

And with the cold weather settling in on this side of the Atlantic, what better time to learn from our stateside cousins?
