For Spring/Summer 2015 MaxMara’s outlook was of a sunny disposition – large, floppy sunhats, canvas knee-boots and slinky midi dresses were all splodged with watercolour florals. Some even head-to-toe. Testament to the temptation of these happy bouquets are the amount of show go-ers in attendance today wearing them. But what does the MaxMara girl want to look like for Autumn/Winter 2015? Here’s what we liked the most…
1. Gigi Hadid
She’s just so pretty. Gigi looked like a Hollywood starlet in a classic camel coat with a peekaboo of cleavage on show. Well, there was a strong Marilyn Monroe vibe and who else could do that justice right now?
2. Talking of camel
It’s this Italian brand’s most established signature of all and it came in plenty of options today. Flattering for all – and a much more exiting neutral than the black that has abounded elsewhere for Autumn Winter 2015 – we particularly liked Lindsay Wixon’s natty v-neck knit and long pencil skirt combination.
**3. Specs appeal **
The boffin-like, cat-eye reading frames from MaxMara sat well against the dishevelled hair and sassy clothes. An age old game of posh-playful.
**4. Clutching one’s clothes **
A very Marilyn move to cocoon in swathes of luxurious fabric and nothing more – could this be the new shoulder robe? Think of one of her famous last photo-shoots – wrapped up in a green towel on Santa Monica beach and captured by photographer George Barris. This is how the runway’s cosy coats and knits were fastened.
**5. Satin's makeunder **
This eveningwear fabric continues to be used in less obvious ways across the catwalks of the new season. Here you’ll find it made daywear-ready, turned inside out from a quilted lining of a coat and made into sweatshirts, skirts and cover-ups.
