Every season fashion mogul and Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massanet launches the 5-day fashion voyage that is LFW. And every season the ingenious entrepreneur delivers a rousing reminder of the very important business of fashion that revolves around our fair capital city - one that provides a whopping 800,000 jobs.
Fresh off the plane from NYFW and yes - she really did look rather fresh - Natalie enthused about the cross-over between the two previously contrasting fashion scenes. With British vibes now firmly influencing the NY fashion scene - the global style boundaries have become ever more blurred. From Peter Copping's takeover at Oscar de la Renta to Stuart Vever's outstanding Coach show and of course Victoria Beckham's much-hailed show - the Brit designers are having a hey day over in the Big Apple. Making what goes down at LFW this week, ever more pertinent.
The British Fashion Council remind us it ain't all about the clothes though - whilst they might be the linchpin to fashion month, we fashion fans must remember the over-arching pillar of business. Along with many of their power house sponsors (both AMEX and M&S are brand new recruits), the BFC have exciting new initiatives up their sleeve. With 'Support Designers At Different Stages' as their new agenda - they are about to launch a host of FREE workshops and a digital hub that will 'demystify the fashion business' for budding designers and breakthrough artists alike. Exciting things to come, London!
