Gone are the super-twee days of Taylor Swift’s style consisting soley of head-to-toe sparkle. The starlet now treats us to a mix of preppy chic, retro '50s throwbacks and some serious grown-up glam. It’s no wonder Miss Swift can now be found topping best dressed lists a-plenty.
What fascinates us most is how put together Taylor looks when she leaves the gym - always minus a sweaty rucksack and instead opting to emerge catwalk ready with a dainty bag and matching heel firmly in place.
We might not be able to emulate her post workout style (unfortunately, we can’t persuade a glam squad to come to our 7am spinning class) but the songstress has taught us a few style secrets we can emulate…
1. When it comes to shorts, keep ‘em short.

Balance them out with long sleves and add length-lengthening nude heels - just make sure if you’re going for shorts, you go all the way and show off your pins a la Swifty. The high-waist adds a retro kick and keeps them less Coachella, more sophisticated.
2. Cute courts, flats and midi heels can transition any outfit from day to night.

Obviously it helps that Taylor’s lengthy limbs make her elegantly tall but she has taught us that you don’t always need skyscraper heels to look polished.
3. Purse draping. It’s a thing.

Taylor sports an impressive collection of 50s style clasp purses, one of which (the black Dolce & Gabbana ‘Sara Pebbled Frame Shoulder Bag’) is regularly recycled for many an outfit. Obviously, like any gal she has a favourite staple or two but she also shows us you can add a retro, lady-like touch to even the most casual of ensembles by draping your bag over the middle of your forearm.
4. Never be without a headpiece.

She is seriously into headwear from a light touch, embellished hair slide to a maroon bowler hat, the gal knows how to accessorise. Her ability to rock a beanie for any occasion is one of the many reasons we love her.
5. When in doubt, rock a bright lip.

Look a bit too cutesy? Worried you might be a bit casual? Perhaps you want to vamp up your evening outfit or need a bit of a confidence boost. Well if we’re approaching life according to Taylor (and why wouldn’t we?) then a bright lipstick is the answer to any fash related problem.
6. Staple sunnies.

Like any A-list Taylor is a fan of sunnies. Her faves are of course Ray Bans. She said ‘I wear a lot of different sunglasses, but Ray Bans are my go-to.’
