We’ve all been there – the tiny adorable purse that barely fits your phone, let alone your essentials. While undeniably cute, the mini bag can be a major pain in the, well, everything. So our eyes have been lighting up for a while as we’ve been watching the revival of the big bag - not only for the office day but for days out in town. And who better to showcase this resurgence than the ever-stylish Bella Hadid?
It all started in the summer, when Hadid was spotted carrying the Coach Brooklyn 39 shoulder bag. She didn't just carry it once, though, she was seen with both the super-slouchy black version and the tan suede style, the latter of which just so happens to have been named as the most popular bag of the last few months in Lyst's quarterly index. For an under-£500 bag to take the top spot – above fashion's usual handbag power players like Miu Miu, Chanel and Dior – is kind of a big deal, and proves the selling power of Coach's bags (not to mention of Ms. Hadid herself).
While Hadid's corresponding outfits have been fairly summery, as if by magic she appeared this week to show us how to style another Coach bag for autumn. This time she carried the newly-launched Coachtopia Alter/Ego Hobo Bag in checkerboard 'upcrafted' leather, also with plenty of room for more than just your phone and your purse. It's also £350 so, while not exactly cheap, it's certainly more accessible as far as luxury bags go.
Hadid has declared the end of cramming everything into tiny receptacles, opting instead for something spacious and stylish - the perfect blend of fashion and functionality, with a slouchy shape offering ample room without looking overly bulky. And not to get technical but these bags' balanced handle-to-shoulder ratio ensures comfortable carrying without sacrificing on style.
This type of bag would be typically reserved for office attire, yet Hadid defied convention by pairing hers with Daisy Dukes for a trip to the countryside and a fun graphic 'Here Comes Trouble' tank top and vintage 1999 Gucci leather pants for the city, proving that a large bag can accompany any look, whether casual or dressed-up.

Made from the leather scraps left over after a Coach Tabby Bag has been cut from a leather hide, this hobo-style bag is the perfect addition to any autumn outfit, but we particularly approve of Hadid's leather jacket and jeans combo.

A day in the city, lunch with girls, a date to the cinema - the options are endless. Sadly, the suede version has been so popular it's sold out, but the glossy leather iteration is just as chic.
