Suede is everywhere right now, you can't escape it. From jackets and suede blazers to giant suede bags in which you can fit your whole life, this fabric is one of the biggest trends for 2025. And whilst we yearn for Coach's suede trench coat and Khaite's giant suede Olivia bags, over on the high street there are some seriously good offerings. I popped into Zara to try it on before it inevitably sells out (we know the fashion girlies are going to love this one) and here's what I found. Firstly, the fabric feels thick and heavy, so you know you're getting your money's worth. Next up is the fit – I like an oversized coat or jacket so you can throw it on over chunky knitwear and not feel like the Michelin man, so I opted for a large and it was perfectly roomy (I usually take a size UK 12 in clothing) giving a nice slouchy feel.
What to wear with Zara's suede jacket?
This is the perfect casual coat for throwing on with pretty much everything in your wardrobe. For work, I'll wear this with a cashmere cardigan, Massimo Dutti's grey tailored trousers and loafers or, to keep things a little more laid back, I'll throw on over a tracksuit, Puma's Speedcat trainers and match with a suede bag for an easy effort, high impact outfit that's fashion pack approved.
Can you wear suede in the rain?
Not usually, although if you use suede protector liberally, this should help any water marks disappear if you get caught in any surprise showers. As we (very slowly) inch towards spring, a suede jacket will make the ideal companion for when the temperatures rise but there's still a light chill in the air.
