Baggy trousers may strike terror into the hearts of anyone who A.) doesn't want to experience soggy hems (well, this IS the UK, peeps) and B.) for those who like their clothes fitted, flattering and never tricksy. It's a fashion forward silhouette that these supersize pants cut on the runways, but that doesn't mean they can't translate beautifully into the working wardrobes of regular women across the land. And while a little extra volume could add unwanted pounds if worn incorrectly (i.e. too tight around the upper thigh and swinging at the ankle), so this is why Grazia steps in - along with Rihanna, Victoria Beckham and Jaime King - to show you the light at the end of the dark trouser tunnel. They ARE chic and can slim wonders when you find the pair with just the right amount of room, and pair up with a heel.
As you can see from the runway-heavy gallery above, giant trousers are a high fashion smash for spring/summer 2014: Paul Smith to Creatures of the Wind, Margiela to Phillip Lim... all varied slightly. Some were yanked high and paper-bagged at the waist, others were slung low with matchy jackets. There's a super-pant out there for everyone and these A-listers have helped us decipher three ways you can take the trends, from basic easy-peasy styling through to advanced trouser wearer techniques....
STEP 1: VICTORIA BECKHAM'S CLASSIC TAILORING'N'TEE
Queen VB is no stranger to a big trouser - just think of her heaving wardrobe of denim flares - but these pale blue Chloe slacks are deeply rooted in the here and now. Worn extra-long with a plain white tee, all you need ensure is a strut matched by mega-stacked heels (no one likes an ankle swinger) and attitude. [Etre Cecile t-shirt. AQ/AQ trousers. 2: CROPPED AND HIGH WAISTED LIKE JAMIE KING*
*Perhaps the most flattering way to wear this trend - albeit a little braver - is to go for a wide-legged cropped trouser that sits on your waist. Show off that teeny tiny stretch with a crop top and pair with matchy, minimal extras. These mules will do wondrous things to your ankles. [Joseph trousers at Net-A-Porter. River Island jumper. 3: RIHANNA DOES PRO-STYLING IN A SUPERSIZE SUIT & SNEAKS*
*In this Givenchy look - complete with Riccardo Tisci's Nike collab - RiRi redefined the idea of a trouser suit. Scandi bloggers are bringing it into spring with white tailoring, just wear with full confidence and a bralet if you're brave. [Brian Lichtenberg cap at Harvey Nichols.Mango white jacketand trousers.
