Merlot lovers rejoice: the hue of red wine (or 'nature's lisptick' as we like to call it) is now officially the hottest shade to be wearing. Park your pinks and no-no the nudes: Pantone, colour authority of the world, have decreed 'Marsala' to be the colour of 2015. To you and me, that's a deep, earthy, red shade that warms up a range of complexions beautifully. Party season is undoubtedly the season of wine, so we're glad to extend the antioxidant benefits of a glass or three of red to our make up bags.

Two trends in one: this liner will tick the 90s box as well as the Marsala box. Buildable and beautiful.

Considering 2014's offering was slightly less than wearable ('Vibrant Orchid' was more of a neon-tinged lilac), we're welcoming Marsala with open arms. Even though it's an undoubtedly statement shade, the redness as opposed to purpleness in the colour make it more universally flattering than other berry counterparts. On nails, it looks chic and polished, on lips, it looks vampy and powerful.

There are even more subtle ways to wear it; a tinted balm will give you a glow on your lips that better for a daytime look, or for wine newbies. Or, softly sweep a blush over your cheeks for a warm radiance with a nod to the colour, rather than braving the full opacity of a more matte shade. How will you wear Marsala?
