You’ve done one week of national lockdown, and it’s taken seven days to achieve what took two months earlier this year (i.e. elasticated waistbands and house slippers all the way). And while there’s nothing wrong with that, Victoria Beckham has another idea up her very stylish sleeve. The designer has been working from home like the rest of us, and has concocted a very simple outfit formula: a chunky jumper and jeans.
Two days ago, she posted a picture of her signature supine pose - taken by Harper Seven - and a burnt orange polo neck. ‘Warmed up and ready for a week of working from home,’ read the comment. Yesterday, like clockwork, came another jumper-jeans combo - ‘Another day working from home, another great #VVB knit!’ - this time a half-camel, half-grey polo neck with supersized sleeves. Both jumpers are now sold out online, but there’s plenty more where they came from. My favourite is the cropped ombre knit featuring peacock blue and emerald green yarns, and the chevron-knit jumper in camel, navy and pink.
Jeans might have been a lockdown casualty, as shoppers veered towards leggings and track pants, but not for much longer thanks to VB. Her Midtown pair, with their high waist and ever-so-slightly flared legs, are a great option. The barrel-leg is also a winner, and its ankle-cropped length will show off statement socks nicely.

Someone once said to me that a person’s socks say a lot about their character. VB’s, like her jumpers, are reliably chunky -Johnstons of Elgin has a brilliant cashmere selection in winningly bright shades - and must be keeping her toes toasty warm.
