This Is The Jewellery We Actually Want For Valentine’s Day

Dear secret admirers, please take note...

valentines-day

Valentine's Day is undoubtedly synonymous with brand spanking new jewellery. But you needn't worry about your love presenting you with a little red box, as we've decided to reclaim the date. The day may be in honour of Saint Valentine but we're looking at it as a rather elaborate excuse to treat ourselves (or a really elaborate hint to our partners).

Grazia's fashion assistant Fenella Webb has chosen the jewels at the top of our wishlist this Valentine's Day. So don't just sit back and wait for flowers and chocolates from disappointing 'secret admirers' and instead allow your credit card to work the romantic magic.

Take inspiration from the three trends ruling the season:

This Cult Nineties Trend Has Made A Comeback

Covet hoops this season

Remember when we told you that the hoop earring had made a comeback this season? Well, what better excuse than Valentine’s Day to invest in the newly re-emerging accessory?

This time around, the hoop has re-invented itself with a whole new look. We’re talking minimal shapes, cubist-inspired silhouettes and juxtaposing metals.

What’s on the top of our Valentine’s day wish list you ask? The Saturn Hoops, without a doubt. Just imagine them coupled with a crisp white shirt…

We’re also coveting the Rondeur Perlee Doublée Chain earrings by Anissa Kermich this season. And can you blame us? The doubled-up silver hoops will work well come day or night paired with a pyjama style shirt and stacked rings.

For a daintier option, opt for the Tarantella hoops by ChloBo, don’t be fooled by their size, they still pack the same punch.

Covet Coloured Gemstones

Why opt for silver or gold when you can invest in delightful gems?

This season, step out of your comfort zone and swap metallics for vibrant gemstones. We're seeking a certain sweet vanilla and peach toned ring from Ernest Jones. While the teal teardrop earrings by Irene Neuwirth are at the top of our Valentine's wishlist.

Don't be afraid to mix up the hues this season and stack dainty bangles like Pandora's silver bracelet with the rose clasp with contrasting hues and assorted gems.

One For The Minimal Devotees

Stock up on Scandi-inspired jewellery this season

If the very thought of juxtaposing your jewels fills your immaculately ordered monochrome wardrobe with dread then this one's for you. Opt for structural, dare we say it Scandi-inspired, jewellery this season.

What's at the top of our Valentine's wishlist you may ask? The Knobbly X Laurie Franck Deconstructed nude necklace from Knobbly Studio of course. Layered up with a dainty gold choker and a coin pendant by Laura Lee Jewellery, there's no better way to make a statement. Finish with a wide-cuffed shirt and stacked rings.
