Not to quote myself, which is a fairly heinous way to begin anything really, but square-toed sandals are really having their moment in the sun. What began with the likes of Jacquemus and Rejina Pyo clearly plundering the 90s archives to resurrect this strappy trend transformed into sheer mania when Topshop first released its £39 Strippy Heels – a pair of barely-there, strappy, square-toed mid-heels. In terms of trend boxes ticked, Topshop really did the job in one fell swoop.
First available in black or red, the shoes sold out in record timing. Many expressed their frustration (mostly my friends, to me, on countless occasions) that they weren't quite quick enough to bagsy a pair for themselves, which may or may not have led to today's development: Topshop has not only re-stocked the red and (best-selling) black pair of Strippy Heels, it has also added three brand new colours to the mix, too.
The shoes are now available in lime, snake print or white and are this week's Topshop Loves item. As Grazia has been documenting for the past couple of months, Topshop has been releasing a hero item of sorts every Thursday, which each week has promptly sold out. Clearly, the arrival of some sunshine meant that the brand couldn't wait this week, so Tuesday really is Shoesday. (Sorry.) I, for one, am giddy with the prospect of buying another pair of these bad boys. I've been wearing the red ones almost every day for the past five weeks. So, I'm perfectly poised to inform you that they are, in fact, comfortable.
I'm also poised to encourage you not to wait, should you fancy a pair of these shoes. They are almost certain to sell-out – and at rapid speed, too. To make life easier, just shop them below. You're welcome.
