SS14 is all awash with sports inspired apparel

Ever since the September fashion weeks, the fashion team have been jumping around our fair capital visiting the spring/summer collection previews. Whilst we saw some old favourites we also came across some brands we haven’t come across before and some labels who we were aware of but are about to have break out seasons, so here are our top five new (re)discoveries, and as you are about to discover sports luxe is everywhere...

1. JUUN.J

Juun.J's SS14 Collection goes from sports luxe to pinstripe playsuits (Junn.J and @grazia_live)

WHO: Sports luxe, that ever revolving spring/summer trend will be back with some serious force next season and menswear label, Juun.J nails this trend like no other! His design ethos is all about tailoring mixed with youth influences, street culture and sportswear, something he calls ‘Street Tailoring’. Every brand longs for a trophy jumper which will fly off the shelves, the new Kenzo jumper as it were, and we think Juun.J has one on his hands with this numbered varsity jumper with marble effect (pictured above). We also predict that stealing style finds from the lads will be a big thing for 2013 and there are many pieces in the collection you can’t help but lust after ladies including this pinstripe playsuit.

2. I AM BY ILEANA MAKRI

IaM by Ileana Makri goes from bold brights to stackable enamel (Ileana Makri)

WHO: Ileana Makri is a renowned fine jewellery designer and this season marks the launch of her contemporary line, I aM which is designed in collaboration with her daughter, Amalia. The key iconography from the fine jewellery line, the snakes, reappear in a colourful enamel fashion across stackable bangles and rings. The stand-out pieces though are the brightly coloured shield rings which, with prices starting at £180, will had a bold flash of colour to any outfit at a snip of the price of the mainline.

3. JAY AHR

The textured sportwear inspiration goes from resort, to statement sweaters to modern evening wear in SS14 (Jay Ahr and @grazia_live)

WHO: The French designer is well established in his homeland and across the pond in New York City but this December marks the start of a considerable UK presence, as he launches at Harrods for the first time. Resort will be stocked first, which is a mixture of high tech bobble effect textures in relaxed separates as well as evening dresses with sportswear vibes. Other pieces of note are the shredded jersey tees which reveal an intricate layer of crystal behind the rips. The Parisian label’s spring/summer collection picks up where resort leaves off and lands in January, with reveal and conceal panels and intricate textures flowing throughout. Get yourself in line at Harrods now, as we predict this will be flying off the shelves!

4. TOREAU

Toreau's varisty jumper lands at Browns Focus for SS14 (Browns)

WHO: Browns Focus is the safe house of many young designers, and for spring/summer a new brand will be gracing the shop floor, Toreau. The label is a unisex brand which re-jigs the key elements from American Sportswear including football shirts, tank tops and of course the baseball jacket- luckily for Taylor Swift that is one statement piece which isn’t going anywhere fast! For the spring/summer collection jersey meets leather in some seriously eye catching colours. The designers, Italian Alessia Giacobino and the Dutch Designer, Roger Elsten are about the have a seriously stellar spring/summer. Watch. This. Space.

Its is all about the mule next season and Dorateymur has it covered (@dorateymur)

WHO: Dorateymur is a fresh out of the fashion block London based shoe label which launched only in 2012. The label’s designer, Teymur is of the Cordwainer’s college alumni which is a pretty sound starting point indeed. His shoes are all about combining the feminine with masculine shapes and he has one of the key shoe shapes down to the sole, the mule.
