Whether or not your daily life involves travelling to an office, it's safe to say that for most of the world to be collectively working from home is a strange concept indeed. Aside from the daily anxiety surrounding coronavirus and the uncertainty that's going with it, our routines have been altered dramatically and a lot of us are spending the majority of our time indoors. For those who don't have that luxury, things must feel even stranger and more alarming, which is exactly why Three Graces has decided to donate 100% of net sales from all products sold online to Crisis, the homeless charity, for the next two weeks.
Catherine Johnson, founder of the brand, said: 'Whilst we retreat to the safety and comfort of our homes, I want to spare a thought for those who don't have that luxury. By supporting the incredible work of homeless charity Crisis, we hope to be able to play a small part in helping those who are at their most vulnerable and alone.'
Given Three Grace's signature use of luxurious fabric, mixed with relaxed silhouettes, these are actually the perfect clothes to wear when confined to the house. They feel like a real luxury to put on in the morning but are as comfortable to wear all day as, say, your pyjamas. Take, for example, the Bianca dress. Made from cotton, it's smart enough to wear for any conference calls but feels as easy as wearing a nightdress all day.
There's also a range of lovely separates that will be perfect for summer, whether or not we're allowed out by then. And given the incredible quality of these pieces, they'll last forever, meaning you can take them on all holidays in the future as you remember the weird days of coronavirus.
Given that 78% of homeless people report having a physical health condition, compared to 37% for the general population, coronavirus poses a much greater threat to those without a fixed residence. Crisis is, therefore, calling on national governments and local councils to take emergency measures to ensure people experiencing homelessness can access testing and self-contained accommodation with private bathrooms.
Jon Sparkes, Chief Executive of Crisis, said: 'We’re enormously grateful to Three Graces for choosing to support us by donating all of the profits from their online sale. With the coronavirus outbreak, we’ve had to postpone some of our usual fundraising events - so the money raised by Three Grace’s generous customers will help to ensure we continue to support thousands of people to leave homelessness behind by providing one-to-one services, education and training.'
It's an uncertain time for everyone, as well as the global economy. This initiative is one that will help on all fronts, as Johnson explained: 'I know that, like me, lots of people are wondering what they can do to help their community in this time of urgent need. I hope that this provides a unique and meaningful way for shoppers to give back and have a positive impact on society’s most vulnerable – whilst also, of course, helping to support all of the amazing artisans across Europe who contribute to making beautiful garments for Three Graces.'
