Cecilie Bahnsen's unique take on femininity is integral to the success of her eponymous brand. Her diaphanous, often ethereal dresses shun the male gaze with their oversized silhouettes, and she greatly enjoys the juxtaposition of the overtly feminine – ruffles, bow details and floral appliqués – with a tougher edge, seen in the form of clompy boots or gorpcore trainers. Having designed the latter as part of a collaboration with Asics, Bahnsen has now expanded her exploration of more technical clothing with a new partnership with The North Face.

Renowned for buzzy collabs with the likes of Gucci, Supreme and MM6 Maison Margiela, The North Face is no stranger to generating hype with its designer collections. This latest project with Bahnsen is no exception – the collection launched earlier today and is already selling incredibly quickly.

Unveiled at the designer's spring/summer 2025 show at Paris Fashion Week, there are seven pieces in the collection, each of which are realised in the durable fabrics which have made The North Face a leader in innovation. Really, this collection is a true showcase of innovation, marrying form with function on a deep level. A prime example of this is the Mountain Dress, with a vintage ski bib-inspired top, water-repellent finish and adjustable straps, designed with a typically Bahnsen flared silhouette and ruffled skirt.

The North Face's signature Mountain Jacket – its weatherproof design which celebrate its 40th anniversary this year – has been reimagined by Bahnsen in two ways: one is a long-line layer with floral details, the other a shorter style with a cinched waist and a pretty laser-cut floral hemline. Both are waterproof, windproof and breathable.

There are also boots and duffel bags decorated with Bahnsen's floral appliqués, as well as a pair of Mountain Shorts. If anything is going to inspire me to take up mountaineering, this is it.

As you may imagine, the collection is already selling very quickly. So, if a romantic take on the pragmatic is up your sartorial street, I'd recommend shopping with haste.
