The 8 Things I Always Take On Holiday - Grazia
The Strappy Sandals, £55 from Kin at John Lewis & Partners
Minimal, strappy sandals are a major trend this season, such is the world's fond nostalgia for the '90s. Rather than faff around with heels when I'm attempting to be the world's most relaxed human on holiday, I'll be wearing these bright flats with oversized beach dresses, as well as Bermuda shorts (another big trend and surprisingly wearable). They're also handy for travelling – wear with cropped jeans and a white tee at the airport.
The Hand Luggage Hold-All, £55 from Kin at John Lewis & Partners
With airlines becoming increasingly strict on hand luggage allowance, I've been looking for a snazzy bag that's big enough to carry everything I need but isn't too formal. This excellent sunny bag is the dream, especially if you're anything like me and struggle to pack lightly. It also looks far more expensive than it is and will last far longer than your holiday tan (sorry).
The Swimsuit Essential, £39 from John Lewis & Partners
Increasingly, I feel way more comfortable in a one piece than I do in a bikini. But that doesn't mean I want something boring and practical – oh no, I want to channel Grace Kelly on the Rivera. Failing that, I'll just wear this lovely swimsuit, which is flattering and comfortable – an elusive combination. It's so nice, I'll just wear my tiered maxi skirt over the top and hey presto – I've got another (effortless) holiday look.
The Throw-On And Go Dress, £65 from Hush at John Lewis & Partners
I always have big plans for my holiday wardrobe and, each and every time I go away, I discover that my over-stuffed suitcase was wholly unnecessary as all I end up wearing is the same few items. That's why I'm on the hunt for great pieces that I can wear to the beach, out for dinner and preferably also at home, too. This midi ticks all those boxes – I'll wear with statement jewels (and hopefully some sort of tan) in the evening and flat, lace-up sandals by day.
The Wear-Everywhere Espadrilles, £89 from John Lewis & Partners
Espadrilles, but make them travel-friendly. Such was the motto clearly employed by John Lewis & Partners this season upon making these snazzy sandals. The scalloped detail and metallic shade mean they'll jazz up the most basic of holiday outfits but the combo of ankle strap and low heel means they're comfy enough to wear all day, every day.
The Cross-Body Bag, £85 from Neuville at John Lewis & Partners
I like to be hands-free at all times, rather than weighted down by a cumbersome bag. This little number is ideal for making that dream a reality; it's small enough to be able to pack in your suitcase, so that you can use it for evenings out or day trips. I'll be wearing it with crisp cotton sundresses and contrasting colours.
The Do-It-All Jewels, £14 from John Lewis & Partners
My aim is to be so relaxed I can't even be bothered to change for dinner. This does mean that I'll need some transformative accessories that I can bung on before leaving for the evening without a second thought. These hoops are it – I'll just tie my hair up, add a swish of red lippie and I'm ready to go.
The High-Waisted Bikini, Top Top is £29 and Bottoms £22 from John Lewis & Partners
Since I discovered the sheer, unadulterated joy of a high-waisted bikini, I'm a new woman - and this printed number from John Lewis & Partners is a real summer winner. The underwired top gives extra support, particularly if you have bigger boobs, while the bottoms provide that little bit of coverage. Double win.
