The weather has been distinctly spring-like this week, which has left all of us feeling boosted in the mood department, yes, but also a bit confused about what on earth to wear. Look around on your commute and you'll witness the chaos that comes with transitional temperatures where some people are braving bare legs and flip-flops, while others are still in winter coats and boots.
Somewhere in between these two school of thoughts is probably your best bet. And luckily, John Lewis has just the ticket. This year, Somerset by Alice Temperley is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with the high street retailer - and the latest collection, its biggest to date, has everything you need for a more exuberant approach to spring dressing. According to Temperley, it's, 'a quintessential wardrobe for summer - with a nostalgic nod to holidays gone by.'
The collection has already had several sell-outs - including the gingham jumpsuit and the black wrap dress - and it's not hard to see why. Because as well as joyful prints that whisper 'weekend away', it's got the building blocks of the perfect transitional wardrobe. The black-and-white gingham midi skirt, £79, has already been worn by influencer Erica Davies, who styled it with the matching bow-tie blouse, £69. Thandi Maqubela, meanwhile, has taken one of the collection's best pieces - the ever-so-slightly puff-sleeved wrap dress - for a spin on Instagram.
Follow her lead and lose the tights in favour of chunky sandals (well, as long as this warm stretch lasts).
