Storm Dennis RSVPed, and then some, to this weekend’s schedule of shows. With wind tunnels and intermittent deluges, you’d think the outerwear options for the street-style pack would be limited. Not so. In fact, the cult coat of London Fashion Week wasn’t something nearly as sensible as a waterproof trench or a hooded puffer. It was a belted coat with fuzz at the collar and cuffs.
Saks Potts’s coat, the appropriately-named ‘Foxy’, has been making the rounds on Instagram for several seasons, but has only recently been released with shearling at the neck and wrists instead of fur. Finally! The street-stylers have been quick to catch on, wearing their pistachio-coloured Foxys with similarly sweet shades of pastel.
The high street has plenty of fuzzy options. House of Sunny's, in emerald green, is cropped to the upper thigh, while Topshop's vinyl version, in palette-cleansing peach, is shorter still. H&M’s pale blue style just needs a thermal roll neck - Uniqlo’s high tech range is unparalleled - and a close-fitting pair of straight jeans to have the warmth-factor required to beat the wind chill.
Another brand that’s got a lot of fashion month love is faux-fur label Shrimps, whose ice blue checked coat - the so-called ‘River’ - was worn by Instagram’s Eva Chen during last week’s NYFW. She styled it with a weather-appropriate polo neck and print clash snakeskin boots. Our verdict? We’ll take a Foxy or River any day of the week.
